PICA Awards Industry Achievers

(1/6/98)

Each year PICA seeks to reward by recognition people who have made an outstanding contribution to the photographic industry over a period of time.

PICA believes that those who put their competitive differences aside to work with other companies for the good of the industry, deliver the strength and support of a tripod built of gold. The three legs of the tripod represent Purpose, Unity and Strength. This year our Gold Tripod Award went to Brian D'Arcy of Adeal for his role in founding PICA, supporting trade show promotions and giving up his time to be President for a record number of years.

For the second year in succession the Award for Outstanding Professionalism in Photographic and Imaging Retailing went to the City of Melbourne.

PICA organises the annual quest for the Photo & Imaging Retailer of the year to encourage and reward high standards of retailing excellence. Reps from around the country nominate their choice of a worthy recipient. From these nominations a ballot form is drawn up for adjudication by the senior management of all the wholesaling companies.

The Imaging Dealer of the Year Award was won by Sina and Paul Clayton of Camera House, Elizabeth Street, Melbourne.

The awards were presented at the PICA Industry Dinner held during the Photo & Imaging show.

At next year's Industry Dinner organised by PICA, a new award will be introduced for the Representative of the Year. This quest will be conducted in association with Yaffa Publishing.
