Photography On Show in Sydney

The largest exhibition of photographic and imaging equipment ever held in the Southern Hemisphere opens Friday May 5 at the Darling Harbour Exhibition & Convention Centre. Major photo and digital companies in Australia, plus many from overseas, are showcasing the latest developments and trends in imaging technology.

The Photo & Imaging Show is a three-day event organised by the Photographic and Imaging Council of Australia and members of the public will be admitted free between 10.30am and 6.00pm on Sunday May 7.

Visitors will be able to see and handle the new generation of digital cameras and the huge advances in digital colour printers ideal for home use. In fact, everything photographic is on display: the latest hi-tech zoom SLRs, ever-smaller compact cameras, digital projectors, enlargers, books, tripods and gizmos galore.

As well as all the gear, there are displays of award-winning photos and visitors can watch the photo judging process in action.

Australian cricket hero, Mark Taylor, will be at the show at 10.30am on Sunday signing autographs and TV craft expert Tonya Todman will be showing how to create photo albums with a difference.

If you want to learn how to take better photos, free seminars will be running from 11.30am on Sunday in the Convention Centre. Those arriving for the photo seminars at 11.30am are in for a rare treat when jazz legend Don Burrows talks about his photos and then screens them to a live musical accompaniment with his jazz quartet. This will be sensational, and it is all for free at Darling Harbour on Sunday 7th May. No tickets required, just come along! ends

For further information and interviews, please contact the Photo Imaging Council's Executive Director, Paul Curtis, on 0418 257772, or fax 02 9979 5406. (Please don't publish that phone number!)
