Featuring: RICOH GR DIGITAL II & 2 RICOH GX200

Ricoh Digital Cameras receive prestigious iF design award 2009 for Outstanding Design

December 18, 2008--Ricoh Company, Ltd. announced that its RICOH GR DIGITAL II*1 and RICOH GX200*2 compact digital cameras have received the iF product design award 2009 for outstanding design.

Organized by German company iF International Forum Design GmbH, the iF design awards are among the most respected in the world. With entries flooding in not just from Germany but from all over the world, this award will help establish the fact that Ricoh’s products are highly acclaimed worldwide. A total of 2,808 entries in 16 categories were submitted to the iF product design award 2009 from 39 different countries, with 802 going on to receive awards. An award ceremony will be held on March 3 next year during the CeBit trade fair in the German city of Hanover. Award-winning products will also be on display at an exhibition center in Hanover from now until August.

1 RICOH GR DIGITAL II
First marketed in November 2007, the GR DIGITAL II is part of the RICOH GR DIGITAL series (launched in October 2005). Conceptually, it was modeled on the GR compact film camera series launched in 1996, which received rave reviews for their outstanding image quality. In spite of its compact, slim body, just 25 millimeters thick, the GR DIGITAL II delivers a standard of image reproduction worthy of demanding professionals. Since its launch, the GR DIGITAL II has been enthusiastically received by a broad range of customers, including professional and advanced amateur photographers.

2 RICOH GX200
First marketed in July 2008, the RICOH GX200 is a high-performance compact digital camera that comes equipped with a 24mm (35mm film camera equivalent) 3x wide-angle zoom and a removable LCD viewfinder. Not only is it easy to use, but it is also packed with a whole host of features for anyone who loves photography, including optional manual settings, square format and an electronic level indicator.

Background to the Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards
The AIPP/Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards are open to all Australian and overseas professional photographers. In addition to the coveted 2008 AIPP/Canon Australian Photographer of the Year Award, entries are also judged in sub-categories covering specialised forms of professional photography including: Advertising, Commercial, Illustrative, Portrait, Wedding, Environment & Nature, Landscape and an Open Award. As the winning entries are judged by their peers in professional photography, the awards represent the best of the best professional photography in Australia.  The major winner receives their choice of Canon professional imaging products to the value of $20,000.  2008 marks the 32nd year of the AIPP’s Australian Professional Photography Awards and the 7th year of Canon’s major sponsorship.  Award-winning images will go on national tour in the AIPP’s Canon APPA Travelling Exhibition and be showcased in the AIPP’s Canon APPA book.
